The delicate beauty of Japan, a sense of life held in your palm
A pair of crane chicks, shining with Higashiyama's craftsmanship

Product Description:
This is an exquisite Japanese ceramic artwork, "A Pair of Crane Chicks," bearing the signature of the potter "Higashiyama." The piece is a one-of-a-kind art ceramic, meticulously handcrafted to depict a pair of young cranes standing affectionately. The detailed modeling, down to their toes and beaks, embodies Japan's "beauty of use," with even its fragility contributing to its charm. The accompanying original wooden box features handwritten text and a vermillion seal of "Hinazuru Hitoshi-gai" and "Higashiyama," and the bottom also bears the "Higashiyama" potter's mark (ceramic seal). (R070103)

Specifications:
・Artist: Higashiyama (with potter's mark and seal)
・Type: Ceramic object (crane chicks × 2)
・Size (approx.): Each H 4.5cm × W 5.5cm × D 4.5cm
・Accessories: Original wooden box, protective cloth, written inscription
・Condition: Extremely delicate craftsmanship. Very minor old scratches and age-related scuffs on beak tips and feet (commensurate with an antique item)

Recommended Points:
・A masterpiece condensing master craftsmanship into a size that fits in the palm of your hand
・Classic crane motif with soft and endearing forms
・Perfect as a seasonal decoration like Hina dolls, or as an auspicious ornament
・Also great for Japanese modern decor, tea ceremony collections, and as an international gift
・With the Higashiyama signature and original wooden box, it holds value as a collector's item by an artist

Special Note:
Among potters with the "Higashiyama" ceramic seal/mark, those relatively well-known are the artists of the Kyo-yaki / Miyanaga Higashiyama kiln, active mainly in Kyoto. This piece is believed to be by Miyanaga Higashiyama II. At the foot of the Higashiyama mountains in Kyoto, there were kilns such as Awtaguchi, Kiyomizu, and Mibosatsu-ike, which are sometimes collectively referred to as "Higashiyama style" or "Ko-Kiyomizu style." From the crafting and typeface of the seal, it is highly likely to be an artist's seal/pen name from the Showa era or later, suggested by the use of more linear and legible strokes compared to ancient or traditional seals.
