OSWALD Germany Dog Eye Clock
Oswald Dog Eye Clock

Product Description
This is a very unique vintage mechanical desk clock manufactured by OSWALD of West Germany around the 1950s. Its main features are the charming dog-motif design and the "Eye Clock" mechanism, where the large eyeballs rotate left and right to display the time. The body appears to be made of wood, giving it the warm texture of wooden toys from that era. The eyes seem to be made of a resin-based material, creating a uniquely humorous expression. The back is engraved with "OSWALD GERMANY ges.gesch.," and the original logo sticker remains on the bottom, making it a highly original collector's item. It is one of the "Eye Clock" series that is now popular worldwide, and a truly remarkable item as an antique novelty. (R080238)

Special Notes
Since the material is wood, it is believed that it was hand-carved by craftsmen. In Germany from the 1920s to the 1950s, the woodworking and clockmaking industries were particularly well-developed, especially in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) and Saxony regions. Many were small workshops, family-run businesses, and operated with a division of labor. This means that woodworkers, painters, and clock assemblers may have worked separately. It is estimated that the total production time, including rough processing, would have been approximately 3 to 8 hours per piece.
